Time for a Little Self-Love

Making time for yourself probably seems impossible most days…however, self-care is vital not only for yourself, but also for the success of your family and business. You can’t be your best you for your husband, kids, and work if you’re not taking the time you need to mentally and physically be the best you FOR YOU. If you’re feeling burnt out or stressed with the pressures of life then here are a few steps you can try out to help in promoting self-care.

Get enough sleep. Easier said than done, right? I know the struggle! There is so much to get done in a day, and sometimes that workload carries over into the night when the kids are in bed and you finally have some peace and quiet to focus on work. I totally get it! HOWEVER, try your best to keep to a good sleep schedule. Schedule out sleep like you do with any other tasks in the day. Realize that if your body doesn’t get the rest it needs then you’re going to drag and have trouble staying focused and on task the next day. Do your body a favor and prioritize your sleep!

Delegate your work. This is SO challenging to do, I know! I like being in control of my work and knowing that everything is getting done exactly the way I want it, but sometimes you just have to let go and let other people help you! Maybe that even means hiring someone to come in and take some of that work off your shoulders. If you’re feeling overwhelmed with the weight of your responsibilities then don’t be afraid to pass on some of those tasks to someone you trust. You’ll thank yourself later that you did!

Stop trying to multitask. As women we sometimes tend to try and do everything at once, but how often are all of those things done well? It’s impossible to give your 100% to a job if you’re thinking of 10 other things at the same time. When you’re at work, then focus on your work. Don’t stress yourself out by thinking of what you’re going to fix for dinner that night, the laundry waiting to be done at home, or thinking of everything you need to add to the grocery list. When you’re working, focus on your work! Same goes for when you’re back at home. Be present with your family! Try to leave your work stress at work and focus on being mom and wife when you’re home.

Get Away. It’s hard to be productive when you’re overly stressed. Make some time every few weeks just to unwind and focus on you. It can be as big as a weekend away or as small as an afternoon being pampered at the spa. Whatever it is that helps you to relax and destress make it a priority to do those things every once in a while. Never feel guilty for occasionally taking a little time to focus 100% on yourself. Remember, if you want to take care of the people and the work around you then you’ve first got to take care of you!

You are strong, you are amazing, you are the only you there ever will be! Take care of yourself and have a fabulous weekend!
